About
I am Larry D. Mayo, a certified instructor with the Institute on the Constitution, and I teach courses on the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, and the Delaware Constitution. I personally developed and teach a course on the Declaration of Independence, because understanding its principles of natural rights and self-government is essential to understanding the Constitution itself. Through my classes, I help students rediscover the self-evident truths that shaped our nation and the constitutional principles that protect our liberty.
I live in Lewes, Delaware, and in addition to teaching constitutional courses, I have spent much of my life as a musician, recording artist, public speaker, radio personality, and amateur historian. After nearly a decade studying America’s founding documents and the men who wrote them, I realized how little most Americans are taught about these principles. That realization led me to make it my mission to help restore a proper understanding of our Constitution and the ideas that shaped our nation.
For more than seven years I have taught courses on the U.S. Constitution as a certified instructor with the Institute on the Constitution. My deep love for Delaware and its history also led me to develop and teach “A Complete Study of the Delaware State Constitution,” helping citizens better understand the role of state government and the importance of constitutional self-government.
As Thomas Jefferson once said, “Anyone who desires to remain ignorant and free, desires what never was and never will be.” That truth continues to inspire my work as I teach others the principles of liberty and constitutional government.
